The color palette of Atlantis was inspired by my deep love of water.
Many people see this work and think of Monet's water lily paintings. Monet used paint to convey the shifting light and mood of his gardens. I was not thinking of Monet when creating this work but feel deeply honored that others feel his essence in my coloration. I approach glass in a painterly fashion, applying layers of colored glass powders, silver flea from Italy and hand pulled glass canes.
This handblown glass vessel was hand shaped while hot on the pipe, finished with a cut and polished lip and signed on bottom.
